DUET & ENSEMBLE ARRANGEMENTS
DUET "These Are the Times" by Martin Garrix
Late Intermediate level equal parts piano duet (1 Piano, 4 Hands) of 2019 Martin Garrix EDM (Electronic dance music) hit "These Are The Times" in the original key.
Intro starts simply with melody & bass line, becomes more complex, and then simplifies for the verse. Chorus starts smaller, then soars over big rhythmic chords, and finally concludes with chorus & intro melodies paired together.
Arranged for students with 4-5 years of lesson, this is an equal parts duet of Taio Cruz's 2009 hit. Purchase includes full score showing both parts together as well as separate Primo and Secondo parts.
DUET "We Don't Talk About Bruno" from Encanto
Early Intermediate level 4 Hand, 1 Piano arrangement of Lin-Manuel Miranda's hit song from the Disney movie Encanto. Primo has melody written with syncopation (let them lean on their ear if reading the tied notes overwhelms them) and joins in accompaniment chords. Secondo has a modified bass line which keeps the Latin flavor WITHOUT syncopation; in verse two, it has the echoing, male vocal.
DUET "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey
Joruney's classic made famous by the TV series "Glee" and Broadway's "Rock of Ages." Primo is perfect for student late in their first year of lessons; RH only in 5 finger C position (one "A" requires the 2nd hand). Secondo is best for intermediate student.
DUET "Glimpse of Us" by Joji
Late Intermediate equal part duet (1 Piano, 4 Hands) arrangement of 2021 Joji release in original key. Intro and verse 1 are set simply and true to artist's recording. Verse 2 and final chorus are very classical featuring arpeggios and scales in the accompaniment with melody weaving between the hands.
DUET "Don't Lose Sight" by Lawrence
Late Intermediate equal parts duet (4 hands, 1 piano) arrangement of "Don't Lose Sight," a 2021 release by the group Lawrence. Heavy on the gospel, the thick chords are voiced across three hands. Intro is slower and selective with chords in straight rhythm, at pre-chorus the syncopation kicks in and the fun begins! Bridge infuses a feature from the band's acoustic YouTube version by stacking/adding chord tones one at a time until nearly the entire keyboard is used.
QUARTET "Viva la Vida" by Coldplay
Intermediate Keyboard Quartet for 4 players on 3 instruments--piano, digital keyboard & organ. Digital keyboard requires string sound. Organ requires (1) chimes and (2) strings on separate manuals. [If chimes aren't available, a handbell or orchestra chimes could be used. May require an additional player.] You can add a floor tom drummer (part not included) to complete the sound of the ensemble.
Purchase includes Full Score (30 pages) and 4 individual parts: Primo, Secondo, Keyboard, and Organ. Individual parts fit on 1-2 pages, have each section labeled, and come with a song map indicating the order to play each section. This non-traditional format is similar in layout to a guitar tab and reduces the length of each part by not re-writing repetitive sections.
