Late Intermediate Piano Solos

Picture

"Skyfall" by Adele

Adele's theme song from the James Bond movie of the same namer.  Second verse adds the familiar half step James Bond riff with RH thumb.  Former student, Jack F., performs with bass & drums.

"Dancing With A Stranger" by Sam Smith

While early intermediate players would only use mm.1-24, late intermediate players will appreciate the development in the second verse/chorus.  The LH pattern changes to moving 8th notes in a Jim Brickman/Chopin-esque pattern regularly using 9ths & 10ths.  LH drops down an octave for the final chorus.  RH adds occasional alto note to the chorus melody line.

"The Beginning" by Jim Lansing

An original, New Age style piano solo.  LH has lots of arpeggiation.  RH melody begins as a single note and develops to full chords with connecting melodic lines. Hands make full use of the piano keyboard.  (Video recorded on the acrylic grand piano at Kawai America Showroom in Rancho Dominguez, CA.)
