* Beginning school-aged students receive 60-minute weekly lessons. The first 30-minute lab session is focused on a game-like computer interface with a keyboard where students level up by successfully playing songs. The second 30-minute group session is lead by a teacher and covers ear training, eye training, creativity,and a new concept each week. * Adult lessons for beginners and those with previous experience meet during the day for 60-minute blocks. |

Jim teaches students who:
* PLAY BY EAR to understand the building blocks of music and help them use this knowledge to create their own musical arrangements. * PLAY IN JAZZ BAND to read jazz charts, understand their role in the jazz band (and how it can change based on which instruments are present in the rhythm section), and explore improvisation. Jim provides private lessons at Shattuck-St. Mary's School (a private, boarding school), Faribault, MN. Students in the Vocal Performance Program take weekly piano proficiency lessons in addition to their vocal studies.
